The East Bend Library opened its doors in 2011 and is the newest addition to the Deschutes Public Library System. This library is located across from The Forum shopping center right off of Highway 20. The East Bend Library is a rented 8,000 square foot storefront designed by Jim Landin and BRLB/GGL Architects of Bend.
This small and mighty library offers full services such as books, music, and movies; public computers; a community meeting room and hosts library-sponsored lectures and presentations as well as story times; and an interactive Early Learning space for children. Several of the library’s programs for adults and children are offered in English and Spanish. Free WiFi is available throughout the building.

Discuss Witch Boy by Molly Knox Ostertag
In thirteen-year-old Aster's family, all the girls are raised to be witches, while boys grow up to be shapeshifters. Anyone who dares cross those lines is exiled. Unfortunately for Aster, he still hasn't shifted... and he's still fascinated by witchery, no matter how forbidden it might be. When a mysterious danger threatens the other boys, Aster knows he can help -- as a witch. It will take the encouragement of a new friend, the non-magical and non-conforming Charlie, to convince Aster to try practicing his skills. And it will require even more courage to save his family... and be truly himself.

Discuss Greek Lessons by Kang Han.
Join via Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81379121846
*zm*
In a classroom in Seoul, a young woman watches her Greek language teacher at the blackboard. She tries to speak but has lost her voice. Her teacher finds himself drawn to the silent woman, for day by day he is losing his sight. Soon the two discover a deeper pain binds them together. For her, in the space of just a few months, she has lost both her mother and the custody battle for her nine-year-old son. For him, it's the pain of growing up between Korea and Germany, being torn between two cultures and languages, and the fear of losing his independence. Greek Lessons tells the story of two ordinary people brought together at a moment of private anguish-the fading light of a man losing his vision meeting the silence of a woman who has lost her language.

Lets Talk About It® training provides education and insight on the ages and stages of a childs development.
This is an online program. Registration is required. This program will not be recorded.
Created for parents, caregivers, and those who work with or on behalf of children, our 2-hour Lets Talk About It® training provides education and insight on the ages and stages of a childs development, examining each through a social, physical, and developmental lens. The training also provides guidance on how to talk to children about their bodies. You will learn about neurotypical childhood and adolescent development and determine what is considered problematic or inappropriate behavior in children and youth. Participants will go through scenarios to gain hands-on experience on how to handle certain behaviors, situations, or questions that a child may have with the appropriate response while remaining calm. The training is ideal for participants with or who work with children and youth ages 0-17 years old. We recommend taking this class every year.
